I understand that the they believe that aliens landed in a volcano or something and we all come from these aliens. Its been a while and I forget but they do meet all the criteria for being a cult and not a religion eg alientating you from others (if you ever leave it you lose contact with others who are still in it). .....I forget. There are former members who come out every now and then and say things that they do.

Can some one help explain what exactly it means to be a scientologist? I find it fascinating and don't know any one who follows.

I went to www.Scientology.org and came up with this:

Scientology is further defined as “the study and handling of the spirit in relationship to itself, universes and other life." They focus on the spirit more than body or soul. Hope that helps. If not head to their website for more info. They have an FAQ question that should be able to answer at least a few of your questions.

There is much about many faiths/beliefs that I know little about, this being one of them. I hope members from the Scientology community make it over to post and teach us all something about their beliefs!
